Outcomes Studies

To help our customers measure the impact of near-patient testing, Biosite offers Outcomes Study Consultations as an Encompass^™ Premium Service. These Outcomes Study Consultations measure the clinical, operational, and economic impact of implementing Biosite’s Triage® System and changing processes at the point-of-care. In conjunction with our customers, our consultants define and prioritize the key outcomes indicators to be measured, work with customer staff to extract data (baseline and post-implementation), analyze the data, and calculate the clinical, operational and economic impact. Some of the outcomes indicators measured include:

• Length of stay in the emergency department
• Admit vs discharge percent
• Readmission rates, etc

These studies are used by many of our customers as part of a Continuous Quality Improvement process for a variety of patient populations. Average economic impact exceeds $1 million annualized.
